MATCHES is a collaboration between Guy Nader and Mickael ‘Marso’ Riviere.
Guy and Marso have explored ways to re-define the performance space by working with everyday objects including matches, plunging into the realms of darkness to create pockets of light.
Originally commissioned by Dancexchange and The Place and premiered in May 2014 as part of the International Dance Festival Birmingham and Springloaded.
Influenced by post-war imagery and themes of destruction and regeneration, Marso and Guy have created a performance space that frames cycles of renewal by juxtaposing by products of destruction with movement that penetrates beyond the limitations that such products present, creating sparks that bring a space for light, hope and transformation.
With a set that manipulates perception, Marso and Guy absorb, distort and encompass light and dark, and create a firework of sensations for the audience.
